What does it mean when christians sign at the end of a letter/email "with love, in christ" ?

What does that mean, "in christ" !?

It may sound like a silly question but I actually don't get it. Is it just a way they remind you that they are christians and very religious people?

What does it mean when christians sign at the end of a letter/email "with love, in christ" ?
It's just nonsense dear, you can ignore it.

With love, in Peter Pan....
Reply:How can one love unless they be in Christ!
Reply:I think it is their way of saying that Jesus loves them (you know, they're quite fond of saying that too...) At the end of a letter, I would take it to mean the same thing as "God bless you," or somesuch...I think my stepmom signs letters like that...I wonder if Jews and Muslims would get offended? I certainly would...
Reply:It means that we love that person the same way Christ loves us.
Reply:No, it's not a way of saying you are a very religious person.

If I were to sign a letter with, "with love, in Christ" it would mean it's an agape love. A love for all mankind kinda love. A love because He first loved me and God is love, so out of the love that has been bestowed upon me, I am compelled to pass this love on to others.

As a Christian, we believe that we are worshippers of God, lovers of people, givers of hope, and we walk by faith and not by sight. This isn't a religious thing because religious would mean ritual. It is a honest way of life. A life of knowing you were once in darkness and lost, on your way to hell and you are now saved. In Christ there is life and freedom.

Now, I would think twice about signing off with, "in Christ" because you are now validating all that was written as being backed up by Christian principles like using a company letterhead for personal mail. On the other hand, being a Christian is a 24/7 way of life not a company job but it has to be treated that way or it is hypocricy.
Reply:To me, it means the person is doing what God commanded us all to do, and that is to love each other, as Christ loves us. It means the person is loving you with the same kind of love that Christ has for us .
Reply:What this is A blessing they are giving to you In Christs Name Amen. they are invoking the conduit to the higher power to bring the blessing to you.
Reply:In order to gain salvation from the flood, the family of Noah had to be "in the ark". Jesus is our "ark" in regard to our salvation. To be "in Christ" means to be under His protection.

The term "with love, in Christ" means that the love that is being expressed to you is coming from someone who is "in Christ", or under His protective care.

2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore, if anyone is "in Christ", he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
Reply:They think it's meaningful or something.

Pretentious, I say.
Reply:Not at all -- they are trying to tell you that they love you in the same way that God loves us -- but they're not IN LOVE with you ! BIG difference!
Reply:I've never done that before.

so the right thing to say would be

"why do SOME christians...?"
Reply:It is a testimony of their faith in God, that's all. They do it knowing that some will be offended, some will be blessed by it and some will ask why.

I used to end emails with, "Have a blessed day!" No one ever complained about it, in fact our customers veiwed it as an indication of our company's trustworthiness and our business increased as a result. Funny thing is it was the owner of my company, who was benefitting the most from it, who asked me to stop. Since then our order backlog has decreased dramatically. Now I have incorporated the cross into my signature. It says: "I report to the BIG Boss and I am accountable to Him."

Thanks for asking.
Reply:The common thread in Christianity is Christ. He is the focus of death no longer holding us to satan. Think about communion. This is my blood....this is my body..... partake of it so you may have ever lasting life.
Reply:I am an attorney. Hands down, the times when I know I am going to get screwed on a fee is when the client volunteers that they are a xian. No exceptions. To me it is a big red flag that I am getting ready to get the shaft. I now ask for a sizable retainer from anyone who claims they are a xian.
Reply:it means they are a fruitcake
Reply:What is Love to Christ?

by Thomas Doolitle

Love shows the true character of a man, according to the object which he loves more than anything else: for as is the love, so is the man. According to his love, so might you confidently designate the man. If he is a lover of honour, he is an ambitious man; a lover of pleasure, a sensual man; and if he chiefly love the world, he is a covetous man. If a man loves righteousness, he is a religious man; if the things above, a heavenly-minded man; and if he love Christ with a pre-eminent love, he is a sincere man: "Rightly do they love you.," Song of Songs 1:4.

If Christ has our love, he has our all; and Christ never has what he deserves from us, till he has our love. True love withholds nothing from Christ, when it is sincerely set upon him. If we actually love him, he will have our time, and he will have our service, and he will have the use of all our resources, and gifts, and graces; indeed, then he shall have our possessions, freedom, and our very lives, whenever he calls for them. In the same way, when God loves any of us, he will withhold nothing from us that is good for us. He does not hold back his own only begotten Son, Rom.8:32. When Christ loves us, he gives us everything we need-- his merits to justify us, his Spirit to sanctify us, his grace to adorn us, and his glory to crown us. Therefore, when any of us love Christ sincerely, we lay everything down at his feet, and give up all to be at his command and service: "And they loved not their lives unto the death," Rev. 12:11.

Another extract from Thomas Doolittle: Love to Christ Everlasting
Reply:It means "in His love" and we are relaying that to the one we are writing to.
Reply:When it is preceded by all the reasons you are condemned to an eternity in Hell, it is meant to imply "no offense".
Reply:They are saying that they love you with Christ's love, because they are Christians.

Being "in Christ" means that you are a Christian, and Christian means: "like Christ"
Reply:Are you kidding?
Reply:It means that they are living their lives through Christ. I do hope they are being Christ-like and not like the Christians they are following.
Reply:i have never seen that. but honestly i think it means that christ's love is in you, me, and every person %26amp; every living thing on the planet.
Reply:yes, it's a reminder to the reader that they are thinking about christ more than they are about you.
Reply:It means that they want you to go in peace within the love of Christ, sorta like that Christ Loves You!
Reply:We are united “to” Christ so christians say “in Christ” for many biblical reasons but the following may help a bit in the understanding.

Incorporated into Christ by Baptism, Christians are "dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus" and so participate in the life of the Risen Lord. Following Christ and united with him, (We know that Christ, raised from the dead, dies no more; death no longer has power over him. As to his death, he died to sin once and for all; as to his life, he lives for God. Consequently, you too must think of yourselves as (being) dead to sin and living for God in Christ Jesus.) – Romans 6: 9-11

Christians can strive to be "imitators of God as beloved children, and walk in love" (So be imitators of God, as beloved children, and live in love, as Christ loved us and handed himself over for us as a sacrificial offering to God) - Ephesians 5: 1-2

by conforming their thoughts, words and actions to the "mind . . . which is yours in Christ Jesus," (Have among yourselves the same attitude that is also yours in Christ Jesus) - Philipians 2: 5

and by following his example: (So when he had washed their feet (and) put his garments back on and reclined at table again, he said to them, "Do you realize what I have done for you? You call me 'teacher' and 'master,' and rightly so, for indeed I am. If I, therefore, the master and teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash one another's feet. I have given you a model to follow, so that as I have done for you, you should also do. Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him.) - John 13: 13-16

For to me ... to live ... is Christ. - Philipians 1:21

God bless,

~Nina
Reply:Well I am not sure what they mean by the whole phrase but I sign all of my emails with "In Christ" from my personal account. The reason is becasue that is my identity I am IN CHRIST. These term is used a lot in the Bible (91 times) especially in Ephesians (14) and Colossians to describe those who belong to God's family.
Reply:they are just being retarded and ya it is to show yout "ooo, im a christian, i believe in god, blah blah blah blah " that's what that means.
Reply:It means that they're wishing you to have the love of Christ in your heart. IN other words, they want you to know that God loves you.
Reply:Yes it's a reminder that they are beleivers in Christ..
Reply:That's about it.

My brother started doing that stuff recently (along with mailing me a bible)... gonna have to have a sit down and ask him about his headspace.
Reply:In many cases, it is to affirm that they care for that person, but not romantically.
